Our History
Armed with a deep vision, strong commitment and enthusiasm to provide the rice consuming public of Sri Lanka a superior product, entrepreneur KM Punchibanda embraced the opportunity in the early 1999s.
The Sripathi rice mill was set up in 1999 in the ancient kingdom of Polonnaruwa in the North Central Province, part of the rice heartland of Sri Lanka.
The initial years witnessed many challenges brought upon Sripathi. Difficulties in procuring plant and machinery, obtaining supplies of quality rice paddy, storage facilities and an inadequate distribution network were pressing issues.
With sheer determination and foresight, this family-run company has been able to successfully overcome complex problems and is today at the forefront of the rice milling trade in Sri Lanka.

The long road to success at Sripathi has been paved with hard work and steady effort by the Kakulandare family. Good management practices, continuous improvements in machinery, and an extensive product portfolio have helped Sripathi become a household name and a market leader in the country.
Consumers have benefited immensely from the many innovations introduced by Sripathi. Handy consumer packs of five and ten kilograms, rice that is guaranteed 100 percent free of foreign matter, introduction of advanced milling practices to Sri Lanka need mentioning.
Sripathi continues to invest heavily in its operations while providing regular training and an improved work environment for associates. Sripathi looks ahead with renewed confidence as it readies itself to enter a third decade of service to Sri Lanka.
